FREE VOLUNTEER WORK

On the Web, there are several volunteer work options around the world; mainly in Africa, India and almost every Latin American country. Ecuador is not an exception.

Usually, volunteer work is expensive because they are offered by commercial enterprises that not only propose volunteer work but also use their programs to make tourist activities with enrolled foreign students. This is a good chance for tourists not only because they assist with hand on experience and knowledge, but also because they get culturally enriched from experiences in the country where they work as volunteers.

Of course, this is a way of making tourism interesting for both parts; however, it distorts the real concept of volunteer work. This is the reason why Equinox Spanish School, through its study programs, has developed a completely free volunteer project, where the students can work directly with the community.

This free volunteer work project has been developed with the city authorities’ support. This free volunteer program is basically adapted to serve the community and support a better city and inhabitants’ development.

In this project, Spanish classes are combined with volunteer work. Foreigners who enroll in this program have the opportunity to learn Spanish in an academic way and give personal support to the community and its inhabitants. They usually work with the most defenseless sectors, especially in the educational field, but they are also able to profit this time to visit one of the most tourist Ecuadorian places.

Manabi beaches are, without doubt, the best Ecuadorian beaches. They are beautiful geographical accidents that are unique at the Pacific Coast. It would seem that they were created to satisfy the most exquisite types from dreamers, common tourists, flora and fauna lovers and intrepid sportspeople.

Isla de la Plata is one of the most visited places, especially by tourists. It is better known as “Galapagos for the poor people” because it has lots of flora and fauna species really alike to those of the Charming Islands.
Los Frailes beach can’t be more charming and generous to the view for tourists. Puerto López, a little fishing village, offers exquisite maritime gastronomy to its visitors and many others, such as Olon and Montañita, both worldwide recognized for surfing.

We have chosen Manta city because it is constantly developing due to the fact that it is becoming the second most important maritime and commercial Ecuadorian port. In this city many industries are developing and increasing. Manta port is becoming a transfer charge port and through it, most of South American trade will be developed. Without doubt, it will become the main South American port.

Since this is a completely free project, at the moment, we are focused on Manta city and its surroundings. However, if our students want to do a different kind of volunteer work in other Ecuadorian regions by helping other sectors, such as ecology, poor children, or marginalized population, we highly recommend to contact Ecuador volunteer Foundation: http://www.ecuadorvolunteer.org It is a very serious NGO that works through all the Ecuadorian territory.
